Eric Pope was introduced to journalism at the age of seventeen at The Cheshire Herald in Connecticut. After graduating from Harvard, he spent a summer at the Provincetown Advocate and then reported for three dailies, the Charlottesville Daily Progress, the Lansing State Journal, where he met his wife Karen, and the Albany Times-Union. He and Karen purchased the Hardwick Gazette in Vermont, where they started their family. They sold the newspaper after ten years and moved to New Hampshire where Eric was an editor at Business NH. After moving back to Karen’s home state of Michigan, Eric was editor of the Advisor & Source Newspapers and the Detroit Legal News, and wrote more than 300 business profiles as a freelancer for the Detroit News. He moved into public relations for ten years at Lawrence Technological University.

Since retiring he has concentrated on researching and writing historical novels. Granite Kingdom is the first to make it into print. These days most of his travels are to Atlanta, Miami, and Rockville, Maryland, to keep up with three children and four grandchildren. His lifelong interest in sports is now focused on playing tennis and waiting ‘til next year with the Detroit Tigers.
