Book Sales to Benefit Vermont Foodbank
In these troubling times, it’s more important than ever to help our neighbors facing hunger. In November, all Rootstock’s proceeds from book sales will be donated to the Vermont Foodbank.
“While books feed me and every book lover I know in immeasurable ways, now is the time to help feed our community in more tangible ways,” says Publisher Samantha Kolber. “I’m hoping Rootstock, with your help, can make a difference.”
Nearly 39,000 households in the state rely on 3SquaresVT, a federal USDA program, to purchase food, says Hunger Free Vermont. And with the reduction in federal funding, households are now in need. The rising cost of groceries—nearly 11 percent higher—is also worsening food insecurity, the Vermont Foodbank notes. For every $5 the Vermont Foodbank receives, it’s able to purchase $20 of food to directly support families.
