Forty Spots Open to Vermonters at VSC
Each May, Vermont Studio Center (VSC) welcomes Vermont artists and writers to their Johnson campus for a fully funded, week-long residency. This year, VSC will extend this opportunity to even more Vermont creatives with the addition of ten spots for Vermont Week 2026, May 4 to 11.
The expansion of Vermont Week allows Vermont Studio Center to annually serve more artists and writers than any other residency program in the country, significantly deepening its impact on the creative field.
Rootstock Publishing is among the sponsors of Vermont Week 2026. “Vermont has so much talent, and this is an incredible opportunity to concentrate on a project,” Publisher Samantha Kolber said. “We’re proud to support VSC in nurturing local artists and writers.”
This program expansion has been made possible by recent campus improvements and increased support from sponsors and donors. In September 2025, VSC expanded its lodging capacity with the reopening of Corner House, a key milestone in the organization’s long-term campus plan. The project advances health and accessibility standards, supports historic preservation, and strengthens the resiliency of the campus for future generations.
Applications are being accepted through January 31. Artists and writers that currently reside in Vermont and have for the past year are encouraged to apply by visiting vermontstudiocenter.org. Read the full press release here.
