Donations for Survivors

For the month of October, Rootstock will donate its share of book profits to RAINN, the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization and operator of the National Sexual Assault Hotline, and to Victim Rights Law Center, helping survivors of sexual violence gain access to legal remedies, supports, and justice.

We are tired of sexual assault cases being swept under the rug, of perpetrators going free to repeat offend, and of victims being made to hold the weight of guilt and shame for their own attack. We long for a world where predators are held accountable for violent crimes (see the recent Cornell case, if you haven’t already). And while we wish we could fight this fight as lawyers, or judges, or Captain Olivia Benson, we recognize we are but a small group of writers, editors, and poets, making books from our little corner of Vermont. So we will put our money where it counts, and fight the way we know how: With words. With stories. With the mighty pen.

Below are a few books about sexual assault, survivorship, or abuse. If you feel inclined to read these, or purchase them as gifts, or to stock on your bookstore or library shelves, it will count toward our donation goals this month. Any wholesale sale or sale of any book or e-book on our website will help. Thank you.
