The Funny Moon is a 2023 INDIES Finalist!

Congratulations to Chris Lincoln, whose debut novel The Funny Moon has been named a finalist in the humor (Adult Fiction) category in the 2023 INDIES Book of the Year Award!

The Funny Moon is a rollicking coming-of-middle-age story about finding your true north. A wildly entertaining journey through a maze of midlife and marital madness with a couple of quirky seekers and scenes so well played that they unfold the way you don’t expect,” wrote the reviewer. “This is a hilarious literary romp about the challenges of marriage, self-discovery, and personal fulfillment with a New Age twist. Fun and fulfilling in unexpected ways.”

As part of its mission to discover, review, and share the best books from university and independent publishers, Foreword Magazine, Inc. hosts an annual awards program each year. More than 2,400 entries spanning 55 genres poured in for Foreword’s editorial team’s consideration. Librarian and bookseller judges nationwide will announce the winners in June.

“I am deeply impressed by the scope and range of books submitted this year. Each Finalist represents a significant contribution to the literary landscape and underscores the crucial role that independent authors and publishers play. The INDIES not only honors outstanding literary achievements but also helps to qualify and connect these exceptional books with librarians and booksellers alike,” said Christopher Nesbit, INDIES Award Director.

“Part of the INDIES joy for me is rediscovering so many fantastic books that didn’t get the attention they deserved when first released or were too quickly forgotten. This best of 2023 competition will once again put the spotlight on what makes indie publishing the soul of the book industry,” shared Matt Sutherland, Executive Editor.

“We’re thrilled that The Funny Moon is a finalist in this year’s INDIES Book of the Year awards, another win for our high-quality books,” says Rootstock Publisher Samantha Kolber. “Chris Lincoln’s laugh-out loud book deserves this honor and to be read by a wider audience.”
